For those late in the room, mink oil is made from fat which has been removed from pelts destined for the fur industry – so from a biological perspective, it’s no surprise that it works wonders when it comes to conditioning, waterproofing and weather-guarding shoes. After all, as Julian puts it, “Leather is a skin that no longer has a body taking care of it.” 

Counteracting the drying-out effect beeswax polish inflicts on leather if applied prior to polishing, the aptly named mink oil renovator’s impact might be thought of as akin to that of moisturiser on human skin: it infuses leather with the nutrients it needs to both look and feel healthy.
